Last night after a few months of organising I was fortunate enough to be able to obtain exclusive ‘behind the scenes’ access with Northern Ballet during their World Premier performance of ‘Victoria’ at Leeds Grand Theatre.
The night before I also photographed their final full-dress rehearsal as they ran through the full repertoire to iron out any last many issues.
The performance of Victoria by Northern Ballet which was choreographed by Cathy Marston coincides with the 200th anniversary of the birth of the iconic British monarch.
The performance tells the life story of Queen Victoria through the eyes of her youngest child and lifelong companion Beatrice who his entrusted with the Queen’s many diaries and who then relives the past by reading them.
Following the World Premier in Leeds the run lasts until March 16 before the ballet will tour the UK with the performance.
Northern Ballet is a dance company with a strong repertoire in theatrical dance productions where the emphasis is on story telling as well as classical ballet. Regarded as one of the world’s greatest ballet companies they are committed to creating new ballets and tour widely to perform to audiences throughout the UK and abroad.
Below are some of my pictures from the final rehearsal through to the Premier evening as I shot from back stage and the wings.
