The Nave of York Minster is lit up in a dramatic sound and light display during a media call for the Northern Lights sound and light projection this evening.
Artists Ross Ashton and Karen Monid have designed the sound and light projection taking inspiration from the cathedral’s stained glass and architecture.
Visitors will have the chance to experience the Minster at dusk from 8pm over two evenings on June 16 and 17 as the nave area is filled with organ music before the light and sound installation is shown.
The event supports a new three-year fundraising campaign to extend state of the art glazing to all 128 of the Minster’s medieval stained glass windows over the next 20 years. Currently, over 70 of the windows have no protection from the elements.
