A full-sized replica of Captain Cook’s famous ship, the HM Bark Endeavour was towed into Whitby Harbour following refurbishment work on the River Tees yesterday.
The replica ship was bought in auction by Whitby businessman Andrew Fiddler.
Following a six-week refurbishment in a dry-dock on the River Tees the ship is now expected to become a major tourist attraction in Whitby harbour.
The HM Bark Endeavour is one of only two life-size replicas in the world. The original ship HMS Endeavour was commanded by Captain James Cook for his first voyage to Australia and New Zealand in the 18th century.
