Members and supporters of the Fire Brigades Union gathered in the centre of Middlesbrough today during a rally to voice their opposition to proposed cuts outlined by Cleveland Fire Authority.
The FBU say that the proposed £6,000,000 budget cuts outlined by the government would lead to 130 job losses, including a quarter of the brigade’s firefighters, less specialist equipment, slower response times and less home and school fire safety visits that could all lead to a significant increase in risk to both the public and firefighters alike.
