New Moon Rising

A full moon rises over Huntcliff at Saltburn by the Sea in Cleveland last night. The moon will appear to be the biggest in almost 20 years.

Called a “perigee moon,” this moon rise is a rare celestial event that occurs when the moon reaches the closest possible point of its orbit around the earth, about 212,000 miles away.
