Rays of sunlight pierce the dust-filled entrance to Basra Palace in Iraq. The building, formerly one of the grand residences of Saddam Hussein and his family was being used at the time of the picture as a base for British Troops who would leave from here to carry out numerous patrols in the town. Damaged by insurgent rocket and small arms fire and showing signs of wear after hundreds of troops had used the building as a base the palace had seen better days.
